From the 1913 diary of Nicholas II:
26th April. Friday. In the morning received Benkendorf and Saltykov, read, took a walk; at 11 o’cl. received Kokovtsev and Gen. Markov, the new Min.[ister] St.-Secr. of the Finnish G.[rand] D.[uchy]. Sashka Vorontsov (on duty) had breakfast and dinner. Received the Kievan Exhibition Committee deputation. Rode bicycles with the daughters and canoed. At 6 o’cl. received Scheglovitov, Kasso and Dedulin. In the evening studied until 11 o’cl. At tea read aloud.
