Nikolai Pavlovich Sablin, Adjutant, Captain 1st Grade and Officer Aide-de-Camp, was a great favorite of the Romanov family.
Grand Duchess Tatiana often mentioned “N.P.” in her diaries and letters and always spoke very fondly of him.
After 1916, N.P. Sablin became Commander of the Imperial Yacht “The Standart”.
From the 1913 diary of Tatiana Romanov:
“Nik.[olai] Pav.[lovich] Sablin was [at Anya’s]… I was very glad to see N.P.”
“Was glad that today [we] saw N.P…”
“Had tea all together. I was very happy to see N.P.”
“We walked around them all and on the way back rode by the darling yacht. Saw N.P. on the scuttle.”
“We 4 [rode] with N.P. … After tea we 4 with Mama and N.P. went to the yacht, got in a motor boat and went to the chapel of Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker near the mall. … Later [I] was with P.A. for a little while, then Olga sat with him and N.P. until 11 ½. It was awfully nice.”
“We sat upstairs with N.P. and P.A. Had breakfast with everyone upstairs. N.P. was on watch duty from 12-4 but I still managed to see him a lot… Later went to see our train with N.P., P.A. and Ippolit . Then [I] sat with N.P.”
