ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS: OLGA ROMANOV. 16 SEPTEMBER, 1913
“Monday. 16 September. Studied. It was cool out in the sea. At 11.38 we two went in motors to Kosmodemyansky with Papa and Drenteln. Saw S. on the seafront. I felt awfully happy. We [had to] stop on the way because T wasn’t [feeling] well. After 12 o’cl. we passed by Alushta. Arrived at 2 o’cl. 15 min., ate, and then Papa went hunting. He returned at 7 o’cl. Picked dogwood berries with Drenteln and Shura. Made cookies and jam on the porch. It’s warm in the sun, 16 degrees. It is so beautiful here. Alma is rumbling down there. Walked after tea. Before dinner and before evening we 2 played kosti with Papa and Drenteln. Mama talked on the telephone. We 2 sleep in the same room with Shura. Cold. Walked until it got dark. Stars. Clear. “
