ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS

From the 1916 diary of Alexei Romanov:

     January 1.    Got up late today.  Had tea at 10 o’clock, then went to [see] Mama.  Mama is not feeling well, so she was lying down all day. Sat at home, because I have a cold. Had breakfast with Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia.  In the afternoon went to Kolya’s and played there. It was really fun.  Had dinner at 6 o’clock, then played. At  8 o’cl. was  at Mama’s during their dinner. At 10 o’cl. was in bed.         

     January 2.    Got up late. Did not take a walk.  Read in English.  Had breakfast with O., T., M., A. Mama stayed in bed . Did not walk during the day.  Played with Alexei and Sergei. Had dinner at 6 o’clock.  At 8 o’cl. was at dinner at Mama’s.  Went to bed late.
