ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS.
OLGA ROMANOV. 20 JANUARY, 1917.
On the 20th of January, 1917, things are still relatively normal for Olga Romanov and her family. Only a few weeks later, the abdication of her father takes place, as the events of the Russian revolution quickly approach.
From the 1917 diary of Olga Romanov:
N.P. Sablin. Friday. 20th January. Directly to the infirmary, there were a lot of dressings [to do]. Wrote [notes] on both wards, distributed medicines, made the beds, etc. Fed Kamenetsky. […]. Had not seen him for 2 years. The British millionaires had breakfast, N.P. and Valya Dolgorukov. During the day walked with Papa, we 2 and Shvybz. Sunny, very cold. 18 of frost. After tea cinematograph at Al.’s. In the evening 37.7º. N.P. had dinner. Nothing unusual happened in the evening. Mama is more or less fine. At 11 o’clock to bed.
