ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS. OLGA ROMANOV. 27 JANUARY, 1917
From the 1917 diary of Olga Romanov:
Mordvinov. Friday. 27 January. To Znamenie and we 2 to the infirmary. Bleshenkov had surgery. Removed shrapnel and sutured the hips with wire. Wrote quite a lot. Ritka too. Hauled breakfasts and helped make the beds. Golitzyn came by. He is ill. Mordvinov had breakfast and will have dinner. We 2 with Mama received three Americans, from the inactive automobile-medical regiments. After that, she was lying down on the balcony. We walked a little, with Papa, and he went to work on the tower. Wonderfully sunny, warm – virtually a spring day. In the evening when it got dark, 1 [degree] of frost. After tea, cinematograph. [W] teased and tormented Mordvinov in the halls. Early to bed.
