ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS: NICHOLAS II – 14 MARCH, 1914.
From the 1914 diary of Nicholas II:
“14 March. Friday. In the morning read quietly and took a little walk. All was melting, but at times it was snowing. After Bark’s report, received 10 governors and leaders of the nobility. At 2 1/2 bid farewell in front of the Alexander Palace 365 [troops] leaving for the reserves and reviewed 431 newly arrived ranks. of the Svodny Regiment. Broke the ice on the rink around our tower. At 6 o’cl. received Scherbatov. Bathed with Alexei in my bath. In the evening we sat with Grigori.”
