ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS: NICHOLAS II – 28 MARCH, 1913.
From the 1913 diary of Nicholas II:
28th March. Thursday. It snowed overnight. At 11 o’cl. went to the manege with Olga A and the children for the church parade of the Svodny regiment. It was a brilliant and smart presentation. Breakfast with the ladies in our Circular Hall. Received several people. Took a walk and worked. At 6 o’cl. Sabler came over to [see] me, before tea Shirinsky-Sh[ikhmatov]. At 8 o’cl. went to dinner at the officer meeting of the Svodny Regiment. Played the pyramids with Poretsky. Then Plevitskaya sang, taking turns with Lersky and Paul Robert. They really made us laugh. Spent the time very nicely.
