From the 1916 diary of Nicholas II:
29th April. Friday. Today is 25 years since Otsu! The report was not long. Reviewed the tent in the garden. At 2 1/2 o’cl. headed to the turnpike via the Bobruisky highway, where I walked through the village Saltanovka and turned right through the woods and the farm to the ponds, where I boarded a motor[car]. The weather was nice. Studied until dinner and the evening wrote to Poincare.
