DIARY OF ALEXEI ROMANOV (1916)
26th August. Had two lessons in the morning: English and arithmetic. Had breakfast upstairs. After breakfast a walk along the Dnieper. Had dinner also upstairs with P.V.P. and Sig. Anya came from Siberia and brought gifts. Played after dinner. Pulka [a dog] was brought feeling healthy. In the evening I read in French. Was on the train. Went to bed early.
17th September. I have a swollen leg. Spent the entire day in the classroom. Lessons were as always. Had breakfast and dinner here too. Played «Naine Jaune» with Papa, S. Petrovich [doctor] and Sig. Sig read to me in the afternoon, while P.V.P. did in the evening. It poured all day. Brrrr! Went to bed even earlier than usual. Hooray!
