Stefanovich. Saturday, 14th January. Zborovosky. We 2 to Znamenie and to the infirmary. Rita got Ward II for Volga, her substitute is S. Freidlikh, while Alice – [substitutes for] Olga Porf. Mikhalsky had surgery, [they] removed shrapnel from his shoulder. Everything is fine. Wrote, distributed medicine, etc. as always. Count Fredericks had breakfast. M.[aria] and I walked with Papa. 4 deg. [of] frost. It is snowing. Lyolya Makarov came to see Al.[exei] before breakfast. We 4 and Papa [went] to vsenoshnaya. Stefanovich had dinner. In the evening Papa read “Captain’s Uniform” and “Living Chronology” to us.
