ROMANOV FAMILY: ON THIS DATE IN THEIR OWN WORDS. OLGA ROMANOV – 9 JANUARY, 1913
From 1913 diary of Olga Romanov:
Wednesday. 9 January. Had 2 history lessons: Russian History and World History. There was no German lesson. Did not have lessons in the afternoon, since we were supposed to go to Grandmama’s for a Christmas Party, but did not go because Aunt Ksenia and Vasia have the flu. Had breakfast with Papa. Mama got up only for tea. She is still not feeling well – her heart or her head. In the afternoon we 4 walked with Papa. The weather was wonderful: 13 degrees below, bright sun, sky and moon. Slid down the hill by the white tower. Had tea with Papa and Mama. Before dinner T.[atiana] and I played the piano in four hands. After that prayed with Aleksei. In the evening sat at Mama’s. Papa read in his [room] and came over to Mama’s [room] after 10 o’cl.[ock]. Anya and I helped her paste photographs into the album and knitted. Went to bed after 10 o’clock.

I’ve always been curious: Did the temperatures noted in the family’s diaries denote Fahrenheit or Celcius?
